Rhodium

It is a rare, corrosion-resistant, chemically-inert transition silvery-white metal of the platinum group.
Rhodium is primarily used in the automotive industry, in the production of automotive catalytic converters. When alloyed with platinum or palladium, rhodium is used in corrosion- and high-temperatures resistant coatings. In the jewelry field, white gold is plated with a thin layer of rhodium (rhodium plating) to enhance its appearance, silver is also often plated with rhodium to avoid tarnishing. Other fields of application include rhodium plating for optical instruments and electrical contacts. Rhodium is used as a catalyst in a number of industrial chemical processes.
