CARE 7230 is a recommended heterogeneous catalyst for a broad range of hydrogenation reactions common to Palladium on carbon catalysts, when a protic solvent is used as reaction medium. Because of its moist state, it can also be used to avoid any risk of explosion from activated dust. Typical reactions include the reduction of nitro groups to amines, dehalogenation reaction, hydrogenation of olefinic bonds, of α-β unsaturated conjugated substrates and the reduction of quinone to hydroquinones.
