Application fields
CARE 75254 is a Ruthenium heterogeneous catalyst, carried on an acid-activated carbon powder. It is specially designed for hydrogenation reactions on sugars substrates, such as carbonyl reduction to carbinol or methyl, hydrogenation of sugar substrates from vegetal biomass hydrolysis, e.g. synthesis of sorbitol from glucose vegetal biomass; hydrogenolysis of sorbitol. An interesting application is the synthesis of g-valerolactone (GVL) from levulinic acid esters.
